Principals

Stanley Kowalski III – Chairman of the Board

Stanley Kowalski III is a serial entrepreneur and team builder. Currently Stanley resides as the Chairman of the Board for Flodesign, Inc., Flodesign Sonics, SK3 Real Estate, and serves on the Board and is Vice President of FloDesign Wind Turbine Corp. Stanley was the founding CEO of FloDesign Wind Turbine Corp in 1990. During this period, he led the team that won the ICE and CEEP competition totaling $300K and subsequently total investments of $50M in 18 months. Stanley has also worked as an engineer on the Comanche suppressor system, which won UTC’s MEAD award for the most outstanding engineering achievement at United Technologies. Holder of 11 patents and 4 publications, he also is co-inventor with Dr. Walter M. Presz on the RAP Nozzle system. In 2008, Business West, a business journal in Western Massachusetts honored Stanley Kowalski III as one of the Top 40 under Forty leaders in the region. Stanley possesses an insatiable entrepreneurial drive and is dedicated to making FloDesign a world-class company.

Art Martin – CEO

Art Martin has an impressive track record in business management with a particular emphasis in companies where the end product is the innovative refinement of technology. He has been a founder of multiple start-up companies and has enjoyed nearly 40 years of experience as an entrepreneur. Of particular interest is his role as Founder & CEO of SFA, Inc. where he spent 16 years managing all aspects of this instrument company serving the pharmaceutical industry. Art recently held the position of Program Director at Foster Miller, Inc. where he managed a highly visible robotics automation project for a major pharmaceutical company. He has exceptional experience in team building, entrepreneurship, due diligence and transforming technologies into product. Art has served as FloDesign’s CEO since 2008.

Jeff King – Vice President / COO

Jeff King has over a decade of experience in aerospace design, fabrication, and testing across a broad range of programs. Jeff is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of Western New England College and studied extensively under FloDesign’s Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Walter Presz, Jr. Upon graduation, Jeff joined Stage III Technologies in San Diego, CA where he worked on the creation of the first major spin-off of mixer/ejector technology with Dr. Presz – the Stage III Hush Kit. This led to the successful FAA certification of the product in 2004. Prior to re-joining Dr. Presz at FloDesign, he worked as an engineering manager for Hamilton Sundstrand Air Management Systems specializing in project management and team leadership. Since joining FloDesign in early 2008, Jeff has organized and led the entirety of the engineering efforts as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer as well as serving as the Principal Investigator for multiple U.S. Dept of Energy and U.S. Navy Small Business Innovative Research Grants.

Dr. Walter M. Presz Jr – CTO

Dr. Walter Presz has over 40 years of engineering, product development, and academic experience and is licensed professional engineer in the state of Massachusetts. Dr. Presz worked for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for twenty years, was in charge of Propulsion Installation Technology, and has consulted extensively with numerous companies over the last 25 years. He is co-founder of Stage III Technologies in California, and founder and currently CTO of FloDesign. Inc. He is a recognized leader in the design and testing of ejectors, forced mixers, inlets, nozzles, suppressors, and jet engine propulsion components. Dr. Presz is a member of the Engineering Hall of Fame at Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. Presz holds 26 U.S. patents, numerous other patent applications and awards, and has published 31 technical papers in his field of expertise.

Dr. Stanley Kowalski Jr. – CFO

Dr Stanley Kowalski Jr. earned his Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, two Masters degrees from the University of Massachusetts, and a Bachelors degree from the University of Delaware. Before entering academe, he worked in the Executive Offices of Supermarkets General in New Jersey and New York. He taught Quantitative Methods and Computer Information Systems courses at Western New England College from 1973-1976, was Assistant to the President from 1976 to 1979, and became Dean of the School of Business in 1979. As Dean he was responsible for all of the undergraduate/graduate students and faculty in the School of Business. This included approximately 1300 students, 35 full-time faculty and 20 adjunct faculty. Serving as Dean from 1979 to 2006, he was the longest serving Dean of any college in the world. In 2006 he retired to serve as CFO for FloDesign Inc.
