We have recently expanded our manufacturing capabilities to bring some of the prototype manufacturing and low rate production in-house with the addition of a new CNC turning center and CNC mill. We can now go from Solidworks to part without the wait for quotations and supplier queue time. This translates to even more speed…faster results… and lower costs to our Customers! In addition to our legacy Contract Engineering support services, we can now provide turn-key design and fabrication, including small batch production runs for concept prove-out or initial deliveries.
We recently completed Phase 1 for a program where we designed and built a product to a Customer’s specifications, from requirements development and concept design . The effort included design and fabrication of the electronics, tooling design and molding of silicone parts, product assembly and delivery of the first dozen prototypes for field evaluation with the Customer.
In another area, we are working on propellers for use in drones / UAVs to provide improved lift and reduced noise. With projections of drone use increasing in service areas including medical response, search and rescue and package delivery, quiet, efficient flight will become increasingly important. Application development for drones is another exciting new area.
FloDesign’s primary technical area of specialization is fluid dynamics. Company founder Dr. Walter Presz is an expert in the field of Mixers and Ejectors, Nozzles and jet engine propulsion components. Senior members of our staff have considerable Aerospace industry experience and more recent staff provide added depth in Manufacturing, Medical and Firearms design and development. Our Engineering staff is extremely efficient in rapid design and prototyping of hardware for test. Our low administrative inertia allows us to provide fast response to most program requirements. In addition, our close association with Western New England University provides us access to the creativity and resources of Academia through professors and students alike.
